Untargetabilities and disappears dodge the application completely, so Ulting as the X disappears means there will be no pop. Good Ori's are hard to kill and a good zed is a little too slippery for ori to burst down early game. Zed needs to be able to target his foe to apply the Death Mark. If a zed ults you from out of turret range and into your turret range in most cases he will throw W out in anticipation of your shockwave and switch to it if he sees the animation start and try to get more damage on you before the mark pops while Ring again to get back out of turret range. With Orianna you'll probably be rushing a tear and you won't be able to burst him down with Q, W, and your ult. Zed vs Ahri is a super annoying match up for zed, you have to put a lot more effort in to get kills post 6 on her. And then you can use the other 2 dashes to reposition yourself near his original ult shadow and burst him while all his shit is on cd, or just triple dash away. The farther away you get the less shuriken he can potentially land on you, and that's what causes most of the damage from death mark. With ahri your best bet is ulting mid animation so he follows you. Dont stand next to it if he can all-in you. All you can really do is try to dodge it. I know, comparing something like a Xerath and a Zed seems ridiculous, but his early-mid game is all around his Q.
